Confessions on Camera to Creative Healing

🎙️ From Confessions on Camera to Creative Healing 🎥💫

In a recent podcast conversation with Joe Cramond 🎙️🎧, I reflected on my journey as a documentary filmmaker — a path that’s brought me deep joy, recognition, and an unexpected gift: the art of the interview.

Over the years, I became known for my ability to create a space where contributors felt safe enough to share truly extraordinary stories. Some of those moments were breathtaking… and unforgettable.

But behind the success, there was always a quiet unease.

Was I asking too much?

Was I turning someone’s truth into a spectacle?

Was the intimacy of confession serving the subject — or the audience?

These questions have never quite left me (and indeed led to my PhD and numerous publications). And I’m glad they haven’t. Because they’ve shaped the way I now work as a life coach alongside my work as an academic.

🎭 Instead of extracting stories, I now help clients create their own — consciously, joyfully, and often playfully. We don’t chase painful truths for the camera. We explore them through art, storytelling, and even short self-made videos.

I’ve seen clients unlock powerful insights, heal past wounds, and rediscover delight by playing with narrative rather than being bound by it.

That’s the gift of creative coaching — whether working with international researchers or curious creatives, my mission remains the same: to invite transformation through imagination, not confession.

🎨💥 The most profound breakthroughs come not from reliving the past… but from rewriting it.
